Say the chunk together
Start with a short ending like -at. Add the first sound: c + at = cat. Read each word before coloring.
Let the pictures help
Color the big letters and simple pictures. On coloring pages, the dotted box marks the shared chunk. Use one color for that chunk.
Find it. Match it. Read it again.
Word searches use lowercase letters and go only across or down. Try picture matching next. Keep the answer keys with a grown-up.
A quick printing tip
Use US Letter paper, portrait, and 100% / actual size. Turn off browser headers and footers. For A4 paper, choose “fit to page.” Each worksheet stays on one page.
